Wenatchee Valley Sports Council

Coaches of Inspiration was the brainchild of former Sports Council Director Linda Haglund.  She felt there should be extra recognition given to those volunteer coaches, usually Mom’s and Dad’s, who give of their time to help out the local team or club.

What began as a recognition of volunteer coaches in 2005 has blossomed into a general recognition of coaches of all levels of sport in the Wenatchee Valley.  The categories have bloomed from just recognizing coaches directly to creating an Exceptional Coaching Award and a Legendary Award to those who no longer coach but were inspirational to their players nonetheless.

In 2008, the Coaches of Inspiration Awards were managed by the newly formed Wenatchee Valley Sports Foundation.  An off-shoot 501(c)(3) of the Wenatchee Valley Sports Council, the Sports Foundation can fundraise, directly provide grants and scholarships and organize events in the Wenatchee Valley.  The goal for the future of the Coaches of Inspiration Awards is to have it highlight the great work done by the Sports Foundation in the community.
